If versatile speed is the main variable while picking a cell phone, then, at that point, in the US and UK, there is truly just a single decision: it's Apple as far as possible. A report from Ookla, the company behind the well-known Speedtest benchmark and specializing in network diagnostics, states that this is the case.

In the 10 countries with the most connected devices, Ookla tested the 5G performance of several mobile phones. In the United States and the United Kingdom, the iPhone 14 Pro Max came out on top. In the United States, the average download speed was 177.21 Mbps, while in the United Kingdom, it was 171.24 Mbps. With a median download speed of 158.24 in the UK and 175.08 in the US, the iPhone 14 Pro was not far behind. Surprisingly, the top five 5G phones in the UK are all iPhones. With a score of 165.49 Mbps, the iPhone 13 Pro Max fell behind the 14 Pro and the 14 Pro in Ookla's tests.
In the United Kingdom, the iPhone 13 mini and the iPhone 13 Pro round out the top five. In the United States, Samsung's Android phones take the lead. The third-place Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 was 8% behind the first-place iPhone 14 Pro Max. The Snapdragon X65 5G modem that is used in the majority of high-end Android phones is also used in the iPhone 14, so Qualcomm is likely to be the manufacturer for at least another year.
However, persistent rumors suggest that Apple is developing its own 5G modem, which may be ready by 2024. Ookla measured the 5G performance of phones with a "market share greater than or equal to 0.5% of all devices and a minimum sample size of 100 devices in a given market" using its Speedtest Intelligence statistics. Ookla points out that performance may vary from country to country after being tested with 5G providers in each country.
